Davidson County Farmers’ Market Plan to Open May 2
As we enter the peak season for fresh fruit and vegetables in the county amidst the COVID-19 crisis, there are still options for purchasing fresh local foods in Davidson County. Both the Lexington Farmers Market and the Thomasville Farmers Market are planning to open on May 2, 2020, at 8 a.m.
Lexington Farmers Market located on 129 S. Railroad Street will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., every Saturday between May 2 and October 10th. Customers can shop inside or can take advantage of the new drive-thru pickup for pre-ordered items. To participate in the new drive-thru lane, shoppers must reserve a pick-up time on the farmers market website. Then they can place orders with participating vendors. All orders must be pre-paid. The drive-thru lane will be at the south end of the Depot, and drivers should approach from E. 3rd Avenue.
Thomasville Farmers’ Market located on the corner of East Guilford and Commerce Streets in downtown Thomasville Farmers’ Market is planning to open on May 2, operating from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the market will implement market protocols that satisfy state health requirements. Protocols include social distancing at 6-feet; masks to be worn by both vendors and consumers; traffic flow restrictions including limiting the number of customers in the market area at one time and specific market entrance and exit areas.
