Collapse ▲The Davidson County Beekeepers Association will be hosting beekeeping classes leading to becoming a certified beekeeper!
Classes will be on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. from January 7th through March 11th. They will be located at the DC Ag Extension Building located at 301 E Center St in Lexington. There will be 30 hours of training, and the cost is $60.
Topics covered include Intro to Beekeeping and History, Getting started and Hive Components, Installing Bees, managing bees (Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter), Honeybee Organization, Bee Races & Products, Bee Anatomy, Bee Diseases and Maladies, Integrated Pest Management, Protective Equipment, Apiary Safety and Good Neighbor Practices, Feeding Bees, Extraction and Labeling, Plants for Bees, and Additional Resources.
Written Certification Testing will take place March 28th.
