New Strawberry
Diagnostic Tool

An interdisciplinary team of  NC State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences extension specialists have created a new, mobile-friendly, database driven tool to help strawberry growers visually diagnose disorders. The new Strawberry Diagnostic Key provides a way to filter by visual characteristics to identify problems. Results include details about the disorders and possible management strategies. The Strawberry Diagnostic Key was developed with funding in part from the Strawberry Sustainability Initiativethe Walmart FoundationUniversity of ArkansasSouthern Region IPM CenterNorth Carolina State University Cooperative Extension Service and the North Carolina Strawberry Association.

Davidson County Farmers Markets Opening Day May 7, 2016 marks opening day for the Lexington and Thomasville farmers markets. Both markets will be open from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM with local growers selling a variety of items from fresh eggs and produce to handmade crafts and baked goods. With Mother's Day on Sunday, drop by and purchase your favorite mom a bouquet of fresh cut flowers and something to cook her a delicious supper. The Lexington Farmers Market is located at the old train depot in Lexington -- 129 Railroad Street. Those interested in learning more about selling at the market should contact Bobbi Potter, Market Manager, at 336-287-6017.
