Home Food Preservation Series

Interested in learning safe methods of food preservation at home? Join in on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 23–July 2, 2020, noon–1:30 p.m.!

About this Event:

This is a FREE virtual home food preservation series held from noon1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays June 23July 2. Each session will consist of a Zoom class with live interaction as we discuss the daily topic. Come ready to learn new skills and techniques and leave with recipes and other online resources that will be helpful as you take on food preservation at home. You must register for each individual session you would like to attend. Registration will close a day before each session at noon. You will be given a link in an order confirmation email, please do not lose this email.

Session 1: June 23: Freezing

This session will focus on freezing techniques to limit food waste. We will be demonstrating how to freeze berries and several delicious ways to utilize frozen blueberries.

Session 2: June 25: Dehydration

This session will focus on the process of dehydration and the methods you can use for drying. Learn to dry herbs and apples and ideas on how to use the finished products.

Session 3: June 30: Pickling and Water Bath Canning

This session will include a demonstration on pickling. Learn how to make quick and easy refrigerator pickles. We will focus on the process of basic water bath canning rather than demonstrating to make the best use of our class time.

Session 4: July 2: Pressure Canning

This session will focus on the process of pressure canning. Pressure canning can be scary if you don’t know the basics. Join us as we discuss current safety recommendations and discover a variety of pressure canning resources and useful information to ensure success.
