Many are members of the Onslow County Beekeepers Association which is a charter member of the North Carolina State Beekeeping Association. Honey Bee Swarms

Honey bees will swarm any time of the year, but there tend to be more sightings in early Spring. Honey bees will swarm for several reasons but the main one is to reproduce. When the colony grows and the bees determine it is outgrowing it’s current hive, they make preparations to swarm.

It seems early but there have already been several reports of honey bee swarms in Onslow County.

Find a swarm of honey bees? Do not spray or disturb them. Honey bees are generally docile during this time as they are re-locating to a new “home”. They will land to rest and move on within a few hours.

Members of Onslow County Beekeepers Association can help to remove a swarm!
